The journey from cold ad to webinar to email sequence to sales-page purchase spans weeks across 5+ touchpoints, yet most course creators rely on last-click reporting that sees only the final email click.

Meta dropped its attribution window from 28 days to 7 days in early 2021. Most info-product purchase decisions happen outside that window. If you sell a $2,000 course through a webinar funnel, Meta will miss the majority of your conversions, and you’ll turn off campaigns that are actually making you money.

Proper info-product tracking requires persistent click IDs, server-side event capture, long attribution windows (14-90 days), and integration with your checkout system (Stripe, PayPal, ThriveCart, ClickFunnels). Without these, budget decisions are made on fiction.

Hyros was originally built for info-product advertisers. It tracks across the full funnel, from first ad click to final upsell, with 90-day attribution windows.

Overview

Info-product ad tracking ties funnel revenue (opt-ins, webinar registrations, sales pages, checkouts, upsells, and downsells) back to the ad that drove the original click. Unlike single-page e-commerce checkouts, info-product funnels span days or weeks across multiple tools and devices. Accurate tracking requires persistent click IDs, server-side event capture, long attribution windows (14-90 days), and direct integration with payment processors like Stripe. Without this infrastructure, ad platforms report incomplete data and budget decisions are based on guesswork.

Why Info-Product Attribution Is the Hardest Problem in Digital Advertising

The whole info-product attribution problem in one data point.

Most people think info-product attribution works the same way as DTC attribution, just longer. They’re wrong. The purchase path is longer, sure, but the real problem is that every model you’ve ever been handed was built for a checkout that happens in the same session as the ad click. I built Hyros because I was running info-product funnels and I couldn’t get accurate numbers from any tool on the market. Not a single one. Here’s what they all missed, and what the missing data actually costs.

The 42-Call Problem Nobody Talks About

Here’s the most important thing I can show you about info-product attribution, and I’ve looked at hundreds of ad accounts where this pattern shows up the same way every time.

I’m reviewing an account. Facebook’s dashboard shows 42 calls booked from a campaign. I pull the actual call data from our tracking: 116 calls. That’s not a rounding error. Facebook only caught 42 calls. We’re tracking 116 calls right there in Hyros. If I had been using Facebook’s metrics alone, I probably would have turned off those ads or at least decided they weren’t that successful. The campaign was actually generating nearly 3x the leads the platform could see.

That gap (42 reported versus 116 tracked) is the info-product attribution problem in a single data point. The issue isn’t your creative. It isn’t your targeting. It isn’t your offer. It’s that the window is too short and the tracking is too shallow to see the full journey. Most course creators never get to see this number because they don’t have a system that can produce it.

Funnel Length vs. the 7-Day Window

A typical info-product funnel works like this: someone clicks a Meta ad, lands on an opt-in page, enters their email, gets a confirmation page, receives a sequence of emails over 5-14 days, watches a webinar or VSL, and then hits a sales page with a checkout. The gap between initial ad click and purchase is often 14-30 days. For high-ticket offers with application funnels and sales calls, it can stretch to 60-90 days.

Meta’s attribution window is 7 days post-click. That window used to be 28 days, but Apple’s iOS 14.5 changes in 2021 forced Meta to cut it by 75%. For a detailed breakdown of how those changes reshaped attribution, see our guide on iOS 14.5 and ad attribution.

The math is brutal. If your average time from ad click to purchase is 18 days, Meta can’t see the conversion. It reports that the ad generated zero revenue. You look at the dashboard, see a negative ROAS, and turn off the campaign. The campaign was actually profitable. You just killed it because the platform couldn’t count far enough.

Multi-Step Offers

Info-product businesses rarely sell one thing. A Jeff Walker-style launch funnel might include a free lead magnet, a three-part video series, a live webinar, a core offer at $997, an order bump at $47, and an upsell at $297. Each step happens on a different page, sometimes a different domain, sometimes days apart.

Standard tracking treats each page as an isolated event. It can tell you someone visited the webinar registration page. It can’t connect that visit to the $997 purchase that happened six days later on a different subdomain.

Upsells and Downsells

The real margin in info-products lives in upsells and downsells. A $47 front-end offer might have a $297 upsell, a $97 downsell, and a $497 premium upsell. The front-end product is the door-opener. The upsell sequence is where the ad spend gets paid back.

Most tracking systems only capture the initial checkout. The upsell pages (which often run through a separate order form or one-click-upsell tool) never fire a conversion event back to the ad platform. You see $47 in revenue from an ad that actually generated $841. Your ROAS looks like 0.9x when it’s actually 4x. To understand how those ROAS calculations change your decisions, see How to Calculate ROAS.

Affiliate Traffic Mixed With Paid

Many info-product businesses run both paid ads and affiliate programs. When an affiliate sends traffic that also clicked a Meta ad last week, both channels claim credit. Without independent attribution, you can’t separate affiliate-driven revenue from ad-driven revenue. You end up paying twice for the same customer: once to the affiliate and once to Meta through inflated budget allocation.

The Real Reason Info-Product Scaling Stalls

Let me give you the conclusion I’ve reached from working across thousands of ad accounts. The big reason why people think their business isn’t scaling (and their ads aren’t scaling their business) is because they think it’s something they’re not doing in the ad manager. They’re testing different creatives. They’re adjusting their audiences. They’re tweaking their offer. They try everything in the platform and nothing works.

But it’s not an ad problem. It’s an attribution-blindness problem, specifically blindness to the cross-day, cross-channel funnel that info-products run on. When a buyer clicks your Facebook ad on Monday and purchases from a webinar follow-up email on day 12, that purchase is invisible to Meta. You see a campaign with a negative ROAS and you kill it. Then you wonder why your top-of-funnel is drying up six weeks later.

The ad was working. Your tracking wasn’t. Those are two completely different problems, and confusing them is how good campaigns die.

A Real Info-Product Funnel: Where Every Model Gets It Wrong

Six touchpoints, one buyer, weeks apart.

Let’s trace an actual $1,997 course sale through a standard info-product funnel and show you exactly where the credit gets misassigned at each step.

Day 1 (Monday): Cold Meta ad click. Sarah sees a Facebook video ad for your free masterclass while scrolling. She clicks, enters her email, and registers. The Meta pixel fires a “Lead” event. Meta records this click under 7-day attribution.

Days 2-5: Email nurture sequence. Sarah receives four emails. She opens two of them. ActiveCampaign records the open and click events. Attribution here: email gets credited for engagement. Meta still holding its 7-day clock.

Day 7: Webinar attendance. Sarah watches your live webinar. She doesn’t buy during the pitch. She closes the tab. Meta’s 7-day clock expires at 11:59 PM. From this point forward, Meta cannot see anything Sarah does, even if she converts directly from your follow-up.

Day 10: Replay email. Sarah opens a replay email and watches 40 minutes of the webinar recording. She’s warm. Still not buying. ActiveCampaign records another click.

Day 12: Purchase from email link. Sarah clicks a link in your follow-up email and buys the $1,997 course. Last-click attribution assigns 100% of the credit to the email. Meta shows $0 revenue from the original ad. Your ROAS report says email generated $1,997 and Facebook generated $0.

Day 14: $997 coaching upsell. Sarah logs in on her laptop (different device) and buys the upsell. The pixel on the upsell page creates a new anonymous visitor record. The $997 either gets double-counted (if the laptop pixel fires independently) or falls into an attribution black hole.

The correct picture: that $2,994 in total revenue traces back to a Facebook ad click on Day 1. Last-click tracking gave all of it to email. Meta’s native reporting captured $0 of it. You turned off the Facebook campaign during Day 8’s budget review because ROAS showed negative. The campaign was generating nearly $3,000 per lead.

That’s not a hypothetical. That’s what I see in accounts every week.

The Typical Info-Product Stack in 2026

The info-product tech stack in 2026 is a collection of specialized tools, none of which were designed to talk to each other for attribution purposes. Each tool handles one piece of the funnel and has its own data silo.

Landing Pages: ClickFunnels, Kajabi, Kartra, ThriveCart

ClickFunnels remains the most common funnel builder in the info-product space. Kajabi handles course hosting and basic funnels. Kartra bundles email, pages, and checkout in one platform. ThriveCart and SamCart focus on checkout pages with built-in upsell flows.

None of these platforms provide multi-touch attribution. They can tell you how many sales happened on a given page. They can’t tell you which ad drove those sales, how many touchpoints the buyer had before purchasing, or whether the buyer also clicked ads on other platforms first.

Checkout: Stripe and PayPal

Stripe and PayPal process the payments. They know the transaction happened and how much it was for. They don’t know which ad the buyer clicked, which webinar they attended, or how many emails they opened first. Payment processors are the source of truth for revenue but are blind to the marketing journey.

Email: ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, Klaviyo

Email sequences drive a large share of info-product conversions. A buyer might receive 7-14 emails between opting in and purchasing. ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, and Klaviyo track opens, clicks, and automations, but they attribute conversions to the email, not to the original ad that captured the lead. This creates a false picture where email looks like the hero channel and paid ads look like an expense.

Webinars: WebinarJam, Demio, Zoom

Webinars are the conversion engine for many info-product funnels. The sale happens on the webinar, but the lead came from an ad days or weeks earlier. WebinarJam and Demio track attendance and engagement. They don’t pass attribution data back to the ad platform. The ad platform can’t see that the webinar attendee converted. Another blind spot.

Ad Platforms: Meta, YouTube, TikTok

Meta, YouTube, and TikTok are the primary traffic sources for info-product businesses. Meta is typically the largest P&L line, often 30-60% of total revenue goes back to Meta ad spend. These platforms report their own version of performance, but each one only sees its own slice. They can’t see the full funnel that happens after the click.

What Standard Tracking Misses

Everything past the dashed line is invisible to the platform.

Standard tracking systems (the Meta pixel, Google tag, GA4) were built for single-session, single-device e-commerce purchases. Info-product funnels break every assumption these systems make.

Webinar Attendance With No Immediate Sale

A lead clicks a Meta ad on Monday, registers for a webinar, attends on Thursday, and doesn’t buy. They receive follow-up emails Friday through Sunday. They buy on the following Tuesday. That is 8 days. Meta’s 7-day window expired. The conversion is invisible.

This isn’t an edge case. For evergreen webinar funnels, the majority of sales happen after the live event, during the replay period and follow-up sequence. If your attribution window doesn’t cover that period, you’re only counting the buyers who purchased during the live pitch.

Application Forms That Close by Phone

High-ticket info-products ($3,000-$25,000+) often use an application funnel. The prospect clicks an ad, fills out an application, and gets booked for a sales call. The close happens on a phone call, sometimes 2-4 weeks after the original ad click.

Phone sales are the hardest event to attribute. The ad platform can’t see a phone call. The CRM knows the call happened but doesn’t know which ad drove it. Without a system that ties the application form submission (and its source ad) to the eventual phone close, that revenue is orphaned. It shows up in Stripe but not in any ad report.

Upsells on a Different Device

A buyer purchases a $497 course on their phone during lunch. That evening, they open the upsell email on their laptop and buy the $997 coaching upgrade. Different device, different session, sometimes different browser. The pixel on the upsell page fires, but it creates a new user record because the cookie from the phone session doesn’t exist on the laptop.

Now you have two separate conversion events that look like two different customers. The upsell revenue is either double-counted (both devices claim it) or unattributed (neither device can verify the original ad source).

Multi-Device Journeys

Info-product buyers aren’t sitting at one computer through the entire funnel. They discover your ad on Instagram on their phone, research you on their laptop, watch the webinar on their tablet, and buy on their phone. The customer had 4-12 touchpoints across multiple devices before purchasing. Pixel-based tracking sees four separate anonymous visitors, not one buyer.

How to Set Up Proper Info-Product Ad Tracking

The four things accurate info-product tracking needs.

Setting up proper attribution for an info-product funnel requires connecting every step of the funnel to a single tracking system that uses persistent identifiers. Here is the process in six steps.

Step 1: Tag every ad with UTM parameters and click IDs. Every ad on every platform needs consistent UTM tags (source, medium, campaign, content, term) and platform-specific click IDs (fbclid, gclid, ttclid). These IDs are what connect the initial click to downstream events.

Step 2: Capture and store click IDs at the point of opt-in. When someone enters their email on your landing page, store the click ID and UTM data alongside their email address. This is the critical handoff. The click ID ties the anonymous ad click to a known person. If you lose this data, attribution breaks downstream.

Step 3: Pass attribution data through your entire funnel. Every page in your funnel (opt-in confirmation, webinar registration, webinar room, sales page, checkout page, upsell pages) needs to carry the original click ID forward. If the click ID gets dropped at any step, the chain breaks.

Step 4: Connect your payment processor. Integrate Stripe, PayPal, ThriveCart, or whatever processes your payments. When a transaction fires, the tracking system matches the buyer’s email to the stored click ID from Step 2. This is how the revenue gets connected back to the ad.

Step 5: Track server-side, not just pixel-side. Browser pixels fail when users block cookies, switch devices, or use ad blockers. Server-side tracking captures events on your server and sends them to your attribution platform directly. This recovers the 20-40% of conversions that pixel-based tracking misses, according to independent analysis.

Step 6: Set your attribution window to match your funnel length. If your webinar funnel takes 14-21 days from ad click to purchase, you need a minimum 30-day attribution window. For high-ticket application funnels, set it to 60-90 days. Anything shorter, and you’re cutting off conversions before they happen. For more context on how attribution windows work alongside different models, see What is ad attribution.

Tools That Fit the Info-Product Stack

Not every attribution tool works well with info-product funnels. Most were built for DTC e-commerce: Shopify stores with single-page checkouts and same-session purchases. Info-products need tools that handle multi-step funnels, long attribution windows, and non-e-commerce checkout systems.

Hyros: Built for This

I originally designed Hyros for my own businesses because I couldn’t scale them. Attribution was wrong and no existing tool could fix it. The platform was designed from day one to handle the exact problems described in this article: long funnels, webinar sequences, upsell chains, phone closes, and multi-device journeys.

Hyros integrates directly with ClickFunnels, Kajabi, Kartra, ThriveCart, SamCart, Stripe, and PayPal. It supports 90-day attribution windows. It tracks server-side using deterministic matching (email and phone), not cookies.

The results in the info-product space are real. Dan Henry (GetClients.com) became 300% more profitable within 72 hours of implementing Hyros and scaled from $20K/month to $300K/month in ad spend. Sam Ovens (Skool.com) is another documented Hyros success story, crediting the platform with transforming his ad measurement after years of relying on platform-reported data. Tony Robbins’ team used Hyros data to scale ad spend 43% on Business Mastery and over 100% on Unleash The Power Within over six months, because they could finally see which campaigns were driving revenue past the 7-day window.

From my own ad accounts: I found $100,000 wasted out of $300,000 in annual ad spend. Standard platform tracking told me to turn off campaigns that were actually generating 200-500% ROI. That isn’t a rounding error. That is a third of my budget being misallocated because Meta couldn’t count past seven days.

Hyros is built for businesses spending $50,000+ per month on ads. If you’re below that threshold, the ROI on the tool may not justify the cost.

AnyTrack: A Cheaper Alternative

AnyTrack handles basic funnel tracking at a lower price point. It connects ad platforms to conversion events through server-side postbacks. It works with ClickFunnels and several checkout tools. The limitation is that it doesn’t offer the same depth of deterministic matching or cross-device resolution that Hyros provides. For businesses spending $10,000-$30,000/month, AnyTrack can be a reasonable starting point before graduating to a more complete system.

Wicked Reports: Email-Heavy Attribution

Wicked Reports focuses on email-to-revenue attribution. It is strongest when your funnel runs through email sequences and you need to see which email (and by extension, which original ad) drove the conversion. It integrates well with ActiveCampaign and Klaviyo. The weakness is that its ad-platform integrations are less developed than Hyros, and it doesn’t handle phone-close attribution well. For info-product businesses where email is the primary conversion channel and phone sales are minimal, Wicked Reports is worth evaluating.

Funnelytics: Visualization, Not Attribution

Funnelytics maps your funnel visually and shows traffic flow. It is useful for understanding where people drop off in your funnel. It isn’t an attribution tool. It doesn’t connect ad spend to revenue. It doesn’t tell you which ad drove which sale. I include it here because I see info-product businesses buying Funnelytics thinking it will solve their attribution problem. It won’t. It solves a different problem (funnel optimization) and it does that well. Use it alongside an attribution tool, not instead of one.

For a broader comparison of attribution tools across all business types, see our Best Attribution Tools in 2026 guide.

Mistakes I See Every Week

After working with hundreds of info-product advertisers, these are the attribution mistakes that show up over and over.

Trusting Meta’s 7-Day Window

Meta reports what it can see in 7 days. For info-product funnels, that’s a fraction of the picture. I’ve watched businesses turn off their best-performing campaigns because Meta showed negative ROAS during the first week, when the real conversions were happening in weeks two and three. The data wasn’t wrong. It was incomplete. And incomplete data led to decisions that cost tens of thousands in lost revenue.

If you’re running a webinar funnel or any funnel with a sales cycle longer than 7 days, you can’t trust Meta’s native reporting for revenue attribution. Period.

Forgetting Refunds

Info-products have refund rates of 5-15%, sometimes higher for low-ticket impulse buys. If your attribution system counts the sale but doesn’t subtract the refund, your ROAS is inflated. You think a campaign is generating $5 for every $1 spent when it’s actually generating $4.25.

This matters most for high-volume front-end offers. A $47 product with a 12% refund rate and a $297 upsell with a 4% refund rate produce very different actual ROAS from what the raw conversion data shows. Your tracking system needs to ingest refund data from Stripe or PayPal and adjust attribution accordingly.

Attributing Everything to Last Click

Last-click attribution tells you which channel closed the deal. It doesn’t tell you which channel created the opportunity. In an info-product funnel, the closing channel is almost always email: the buyer clicked a link in your email sequence and purchased. Last-click says email gets 100% of the credit.

But email did not find the customer. A Meta ad did. The Meta ad cost money. The email was free (or nearly free). If you attribute all revenue to email and none to Meta, your next budget meeting will cut Meta spend. And then your email list stops growing because nobody is entering the funnel. I’ve watched this exact cycle kill businesses.

No Tracking on Upsell Pages

This is the simplest mistake and the most expensive. You set up tracking on your main checkout page but forget to add it to your upsell and downsell pages. Those pages generate 30-60% of your total revenue per customer. Without tracking there, your ROAS calculation is based on front-end revenue only. You’re making budget decisions using half the data.

Every page that collects money needs a tracking event. Every page. Including the order bump. Including the second upsell. Including the one-time-offer page that shows up after purchase. For a full breakdown of how to compare your ROAS numbers against other platforms, see Hyros vs Triple Whale.

FAQ

How do I track Meta ad revenue for a $5,000 course?

Set up server-side tracking that captures the click ID when the lead opts in and matches it to the purchase event in Stripe or your checkout tool when the sale closes, whether that happens 3 days or 60 days later. You need an attribution platform with a window long enough to cover your sales cycle. Meta’s native 7-day window will miss most $5,000 course purchases because high-ticket buyers take longer to decide. Hyros, for example, supports 90-day windows and integrates directly with Stripe.

Does ClickFunnels have built-in attribution?

ClickFunnels tracks page views, opt-ins, and sales within its own ecosystem. It doesn’t provide multi-touch attribution. It can’t tell you which ad platform, campaign, or ad creative drove a specific sale. It can’t connect a webinar registration to a purchase that happened two weeks later on a different page. You need a separate attribution tool that sits on top of ClickFunnels and tracks the full journey. Hyros, AnyTrack, and Wicked Reports all integrate with ClickFunnels.

What attribution window do I need for info-product funnels?

At minimum, 30 days. For evergreen webinar funnels with 14-21 day email sequences, 30-45 days covers most purchases. For high-ticket application funnels with sales calls, 60-90 days is more realistic. The window should match your actual sales cycle, not the default your ad platform provides. Check your payment processor data to see the actual distribution of time-to-purchase from first touch.

Can I track phone sales from ads?

Yes, but it requires connecting your CRM or call booking tool to your attribution system. When a lead fills out an application from an ad click, the attribution system stores the click ID with the lead’s contact information. When the sales rep closes the deal and marks it in the CRM, the system matches the revenue back to the original ad. Hyros supports call tracking integrations with CallRail, CallTrackingMetrics, and direct CRM connections. The key is that the lead’s email or phone number acts as the bridge between the ad click and the phone close.

Does Triple Whale work for info-product businesses?

Triple Whale was built primarily for Shopify-based DTC e-commerce. Its integrations, reporting, and attribution models are optimized for single-session product purchases. If you run your info-product through Shopify (some course creators do), Triple Whale can provide basic attribution. But if your stack includes ClickFunnels, Kajabi, ThriveCart, or any non-Shopify checkout, Triple Whale doesn’t natively support those platforms. It also lacks the long attribution windows (60-90 days) that info-product funnels require. For info-product-specific attribution, a tool built for that use case will give you better results.

What if I am spending less than $10,000 per month on ads?

At lower ad spend levels, the ROI on a dedicated attribution platform may not pencil out. If you’re spending under $10,000/month, start with manual UTM tracking, Google Analytics 4 for basic path analysis, and Stripe metadata to connect payments to traffic sources. This is imperfect, but it’s free. As your spend grows past $20,000-$30,000/month and the cost of bad data compounds, invest in a proper attribution tool.

Standalone Summary

Info-product ad tracking ties funnel revenue back to the ad that started the customer journey. Info-product funnels are harder to track than standard e-commerce because they involve multi-step sequences (opt-ins, email nurtures, webinars, sales pages, upsells, and sometimes phone closes) spread across 14-90 days and multiple devices. Standard platform tracking from Meta, Google, and TikTok misses the majority of these conversions because their attribution windows are too short and their pixel-based tracking breaks across devices and sessions. Proper info-product attribution requires server-side tracking, persistent click IDs stored at the point of opt-in, integration with payment processors like Stripe, and attribution windows that match the actual sales cycle. Hyros was built specifically for info-product advertisers and supports 90-day windows, deterministic user matching, and direct integrations with ClickFunnels, Kajabi, ThriveCart, and Stripe. Businesses spending $50,000 or more per month on ads gain the most from dedicated attribution because the cost of misallocated spend at that scale far exceeds the cost of the tool.

Hyros was built by info-product advertisers for info-product advertisers.
